PRP and PRF treatments at Formula Wellness harness the regenerative power of your own biology to accelerate healing, stimulate collagen production, restore volume, and improve skin quality with results that are completely natural because they come entirely from you.
What Are PRP and PRF?
Both PRP and PRF are prepared from a small sample of your own blood, processed to concentrate the platelets and growth factors responsible for initiating and sustaining tissue repair.
- Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) – PRP is produced by centrifuging a blood sample to separate and concentrate platelets from other blood components. The resulting plasma contains a concentration of growth factors including PDGF, TGF-beta, VEGF, and IGF-1 that is many times higher than normal blood, providing a powerful regenerative stimulus when applied or injected into the treatment area.
- Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) – PRF is a second-generation advancement on PRP that uses a slower centrifuge speed and no anticoagulants to produce a fibrin matrix rich in platelets, growth factors, and white blood cells. The fibrin scaffold releases growth factors more slowly and over a longer period than PRP, producing a more sustained regenerative stimulus. PRF also contains a higher concentration of certain growth factors than standard PRP, making it particularly effective for applications requiring prolonged tissue stimulation.
- How They Work – When PRP or PRF is applied to or injected into a treatment area, the concentrated growth factors activate the body's natural repair cascade, stimulating the recruitment of repair cells, the production of new collagen and elastin, the formation of new blood vessels, and the overall regeneration of tissue in the treated area.
